The E.J. Herrmann Cross Country Invitational stands as the second‑oldest meet in New York State and one of the region’s most competitive and beloved running traditions. Each fall, athletes, families, and supporters come together in T.R. Proctor Park in Utica, NY, for a premier event that showcases dedication, sportsmanship, and community pride. Proudly sponsored by the East Utica Optimist Club, the invitational continues to honor its legacy while inspiring the next generation of runners.

About
The meet began in 1941, founded by physical education teachers Edward J. Herrmann and Phil Hammes. Renamed in 1972, it continues more than 75 years later with support from the East Utica Optimist Club.
Scholarships
The Herrmann Family may award up to $1500.00 in scholarship money in memory of Mr. E.J. Herrmann
